#Just5Minutes – Round 2: Kickboxing

The ultimate form of procrastination – Round 2 workout, just because kickboxing is one of my all-time favorite workouts, and even after HIIT Tabata Circuit at Sculpt Studio at 6am this morning. Not a fan of all things zebra, but I will wear zebra-striped warps under my boxing gloves – this is my shout-out to my EDS Wellness community.  And I’m so going to win the BCC (“Buff Body Contest”) against my husband.

#Just5Minutes – For the record, my favorite exercise ever is the deadlift.

HIIT Tabata Circuit Sculpt Studio & week 4 of the Buff Body Contest (BCC) with my husband.  While cleaning the boys’ room last night, my oldest said to my husband, “Mommy is clearly winning.”  Not sure what I’m winning, but taking my life and body back to my normal is priceless.  And I get to snuggle my oldest baby each morning after I get back from working out and before he goes to school. Total bonus.  #Just5Minutes

#Just5Minutes – I will win the BBC (Buff Body Contest) against my husband

Considering he hasn’t done anything the last two days and said that he doesn’t care about winning, he’s not such a fun competitor.  My workouts for today: 6am – HIIT Circuit Megaformer Class on crack.  2pm – Slow walk with a friend, but still a walk and I hit over 10,000 steps.  5:00pm – Walk to pick up the kids from school 7:30pm – TRX with Kazue  I was going to win.

Three-legged Downward Facing Dog Pose – Pocket Yoga’s Pose Of The Day

Three-legged (or One-legged) Doward Facing Dog Pose is something we discussed and worked on in my class last week. It is also Pocket Yoga’s Pose of the Day.  This pose takes a lot of strength, because there’s a lot going on to hold this pose properly. It takes time to build the muscles to necessary to stabilize the joints properly in a pose like this, especially if you are deconditioned or hypermobile.  Modifications for One-legged Downward-facing Dog Pose are: regular downward-facing dog, downward dog with knees bent or on a bolster, one arm bent and one extended (1/2 dolphin pose) or child’s pose.  The key is to not hyperextended your knees or elbows, and to keep your elbow pits by your ears. You also don’t hang into your shoulder joints or hyperextended your shoulders and back.  You can read more by going to http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/3-ways-make-downward-facing-dog-feel-better-for-you#gid=ci0207568e50252620&pid=downward_facing_dog_mod3-erin-motz

My husband and I are engaging in a “buff body contest” (BBC)

We’ve done this before and according to my friend Laura, my husband won.  I stated that he just had a lot more change to make = more drastic results.  We’re probably fairly equal right now; however, he’s a guy and has naturally muscular genetics and testosterone on his side. He’s also abnormally strong. Like freakishly strong, which prob means more testosterone than most.  I have no natural muscle tone, have to work my _ss off for the little muscles I have and have like 0 testosterone. (Yes, women are supposed to have testosterone and I have none.) What I do have is my friends at Healing Histamine by Yasmina Ykelenstam & Shakthi Health and Wellness Center on my side, because it’s all about diet anyway – right? So, give it to me … All ideas. I have 4 weeks starting today. I already workout, but am game for new routines and ideas.  ‘Cause I will win. Not sure what I’m winning, but still … I will win.

Post-Wellapalooza 2017 Annihilation

Definition – “annihilation [uh-nahy-uh-ley-shuh n] noun an act or instance of annihilating, or of completely destroying or defeating someone or something: the brutal annihilation of millions of people.  the state of being annihilated; total destruction; extinction:  fear of nuclear annihilation.” – http://www.dictionary.com/browse/annihilation  The feeling of post-Wellapalooza 2017 annihilation called for a lot of sleep and self-care at Shakthi Health & Wellness Center. And my headache is gone!  Love this place!
